Great Stay-cation week

Shawn and I took a Stay-cation this week in Fort Worth. We enjoyed many great Fort Worth restaurants, time with friends at the Rangers game, and got a lot accomplished at home. We would definitely recommend the Stay-cation to anyone. It is a wonderful feeling not to need a vacation from your vacation whenever you get home. Here are some of the highlights: Saturday - Rangers game vs. Tampa Bay with Mike, Melissa, and Noelle! The Rangers won! There were great Elvis-theme fireworks after the show. And, Noelle and I really enjoyed our Lemon Chill. Thanks for taking us with you, Mike and Melissa! In addition, we trekked to the Grandy's drive thru for Cinnamon Raisin rolls for breakfast - I remembered them from elementary school - they are so good! Friday - Batman: The Dark Night was a treat at the Movie Tavern. And, we got Apple TV. Now we can listen to our Ipods and watch You Tube on our living room television. Thursday - We spent time with Chelsea at Liberty Elementary School and helped unload boxes from the storage area. Chelsea is going to have a very stylish second grade classroom. She gets to start decorating her classroom this week and has "Meet the Teacher" night on Thursday. We went to dinner at Lanny's Alta Mexicana Cocina Thursday night; it was a treat for Mexican fusion cuisine. Lanny is the great-grandson of Joe T. Garcia. Lanny's has awesome Creme Brulee. Wednesday - We ran some errands around town on Wednesday - and we got to take Samye with us. He really likes riding in the new truck because it's easy for him to see out the window. On Wednesday night, we ate at the Silver Fox Steakhouse. This was Shawn's favorite dinner out. We shared a wonderful bottle of La Crema Pinot Noir with our dinner - we fell in love with La Crema during our honeymoon last year in Healdsburg, CA. Tuesday - My favorite dinner out was at the Lonesome Dove in the Fort Worth Stockyards. We heard about the restaurant a few weeks ago from the Coffman's. Lonesome Dove is a great Western Bistro with buffalo, kangaroo, steaks, etc. We had some great Wild Boar ribs as an appetizer. I ordered a Lamb Shank for my main course, and it was "Fred Flinstone" size (described by the waiter). It must have been 10 inches long. The meal was great! Monday - We went to our wedding photographer's office to finalize plans for our wedding album on Monday morning. Hopefully, we will have a beautiful album sometime in October. They did such a great job with the layouts and color contrast from our wedding photos. I can't wait to see the finished product. On Monday night, we went to Ferre in downtown Fort Worth. It is a very modern Italian restaurant located across the street from Bass Performance Hall. The food was good, and the restaurant was a great place for conversation. It kind of feels like you are in an upscale, New York restaurant. We had a wonderful time! After the Stay-cation, we'll go back to work tomorrow. And my fall semester classes start on August 25. This fall I'll take Pathophysiology and a research class. I'm hoping the pace of 17-week classes will be more bearable than summer classes!
