The beginning of the end

Here are a couple of pics taken with my phone at the Barnes & Noble on Harry Potter Release Night.

Dillon and Kaden went with me (Shawn).

Luckily, earlier in the day, the three of us stopped by B&N and got our "ticket". We were in the 6th group to do and had our books by about 12:40 (or at least that is when we got back to my car).

If you haven't been to a midnight release party, you should. They are a sight to see. People standing shoulder-to-shoulder trying to get a product, everyone wanting to be first with an eager, cautious ambition. You have the jesters, the angry people, the calm people, the young, the wide-eyed, the old and the observers. Because I am a marketer by profession, to me, this is every marketers dream: to have people lined up at midnight desperately wanting to get their hands on your product.

All of that is beside the point that the books are amazing. In sum, if you have read all 6 books to date, you have read 3,440 pages (hardback edition) and only have 784 pages of to go.

Hopefully we got Chelsea hooked on the books. She read the first one and said she couldn't put it down and, I believe, has already borrowed books 2 and 3. (Good for you, Chelsea!)

Maybe Dillon and Kaden will find them interesting enough one day to pick them up. I'm sure these books will be read numerous times in my future.

As of this post, I have only been able to read the first chapter (we have visitors this weekend). Will let you know how it goes.
